Pass the Sushi with Sushi Go!

sushi go

Build the perfect plate of sushi! In Sushi Go, players take turns picking cards to build their perfect combo of sushi to score the most points. Pair your roll with wasabi for extra points and don’t forget dessert!

This game is quick and easy to learn. Suitable for groups of 2-5 players of all ages and a great addition to your family game night.

Square off one on one in Food Fighters

Two players square off, controling different facations of fighting foods. Each turn you have one of three choices. Move your food fighters, roll the dice to attack, or roll for beans (to buy powerups for your team). Knock out three of a kind and you’ve won! This game is perfect for all ages.

Feed your guests with Just Desserts

It’s time for dessert and your guests are hungry! 2-5 players start out with their hand of dessert cards and three hungry guests. When it’s your turn, serve a guest by playing dessert cards that match what they’d like (and avoid what they dislike). Or you can draw a single dessert card, or discard as many cards as you want to draw the same number of new cards.

This game is suitable for younger children as well and can help hone their matching skills. Stop by on Thursdays this month and give it a try!

Gloomhaven, Zany Penguins, Firefly RPG and more

We have some new games and restocks of popular favorites in store this week!

Gloomhaven

gloomhaven.jpgDescription from Publisher:

Players will take on the role of a wandering mercenary with their own special set of skills and their own reasons for traveling to this remote corner of the world. Players must work together out of necessity to clear out menacing dungeons and forgotten ruins. In the process they will enhance their abilities with experience and loot, discover new locations to explore and plunder, and expand an ever-branching story fueled by the decisions they make. This is a persistent game that is intended to be played over many game sessions. After a scenario, players will make decisions on what to do, which will determine how the story continues, kind of like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book.

Playing through a scenario is a cooperative affair where players will fight against automated monsters using an innovative card system to determine the order of play and what a player does on their turn.

Essentially, every turn a player will play two cards out of their hand. Each card has a number in the center, and the number on the first card played will determine their initiative order. Each card also has a top and bottom power, and when it is a player’s turn in the initiative order, they determine whether to use the top power of one card and the bottom power of the other, or vice-versa. Players must be careful, though, because over time they will permanently lose cards from their hands. If they take too long to clear a dungeon, they may end up exhausted and be forced to retreat.

Zany Penguins

zany penguinsDescription from Publisher:

The ice caps are melting and penguins are panicking! With no more room on the ice, a group of industrious penguins have turned to you to direct them to a new home. The only problem is that they’re not the only group branching out and you’ll have to compete with all of the other penguins to stake claim to new lands. Send your toughest troops to Strategic Zones far and wide or keep them close to help you become Master of the World – whatever you do, it’s sure to be a crazy time!

Zany Penguins is a quick card game in which two to five players compete to become Master of the World. Each player has a hand of cards from which they assign penguins to five Strategic Zones. Gaining control over the zones will determine who gets points from the cards left in their hand at the end of the game. The player with the most points wins the game and earns the title of Master of the World!

At the beginning of each turn, you will draw two cards to add to your hand. You must choose two cards to keep and two to pass along, one each to the players on your right and left. Because your opponents receive any cards you do not keep, you will want to pay attention to their troops when choosing which penguins to send their way. If they are amassing an army of penguins in one of the Strategic Zone, you may want to sabotage their plans by keeping any cards that will support their cause, and giving them unhelpful ones. You might even want to start a land war between the other players by passing cards to one opponent that would be more helpful to the other. Once you’ve chosen and passed your cards, you will receive two in return, which could be exactly what you’re looking for…or not.
